In 2024, Ukraine adopted a new list of fields and specialties in higher education, prompting revisions to the names of several academic programs.
At PUA, this affected the Economics programs — “Business Economics and Legal Support” (Bachelor’s degree) and “Economics and Business Management” (Master’s degree) — as well as the Sociology program “Socio-psychological Support for Human Resource Management” (Bachelor’s degree).
The decision sparked lively discussions over potential new titles, involving the university administration, employers, faculty, alumni, and students. The Academic Council approved the changes, and a few days later, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine endorsed the program title options proposed by the Council.
The updated titles of the programs are as follows: “Economic Activity and Its Regulatory Framework” (Bachelor’s degree), “Economics and International Economic Activity” (Master’s degree, specialty C1 Economics and International Economic Activity), “Sociology of Human Capital and Organizational Management” (Bachelor’s degree, specialty 5C Sociology).
