As a part of the Intercultural communication module taught to students seeking a Master’s degree at Sociology of Management and Business Economics Schools of Kharkiv University of Humanities "PUA", a business game was held where the students from the Academy and the Vienna University of Economics (Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU) participated.
During the event, the students of both educational institutions (4 participants in each team) acted as companies’ representatives, formed and presented a package of offers on specific issues. Communications were conducted in English.
The online business game was organised by Miya-Komori Gratz (PhD), Senior Lecturer at WU, and N.S. Molodcha (PhD), Associate Professor of the General Academic Department of Foreign Languages. The team from PUA was represented by M. Slesarenko (SM-5), O. Zaitsev (BM-5), O. Sydorenko (BM-5), A. Khomenko (SM-5).
The students’ negotiation evaluation showed that they were all satisfied with the results. The students were able to balance between cooperative and competitive communication strategies, as well as to reach an agreement and understand their partners. According to the Austrian team, the Ukrainian students showed a high level of preparation for the project, language and communication competencies. The participants of the event noted the value of the intercultural communication workshop and recommended implementing such projects in the educational process.
