The annual "Book of the Year" project continues, and this year, members of the Academy are reading Boris Johnson’s "The Churchill Factor: How One Man Made History."
Why should you read this book?
First, this year marks Winston Churchill’s 150th birthday. On November 30, 1874, in Woodstock, England, the future British Prime Minister was born.
Second, this is truly a book you can’t overlook. Boris Johnson delves into the remarkable life and legacy of one of the most charismatic and impactful leaders of the 20th century, Winston Churchill. He explores the influences of Churchill’s father, mother, and formative environment, as well as his education, which shaped him into both a person and a national leader. Churchill was the figure who, during Britain’s most critical historical moment, took on the responsibility to unite and lead the nation forward.
Third, Johnson asserts that one person can change everything.
Finally, the question remains, does anyone possess the "Churchill Factor" today? Who might be the next "One Person" capable of shaping history?
